Portugal are one step away from glory as Ronaldo outshines Bale in semi-final showdown.

The Portuguese scored two goals in succession in the 50 and 53 minutes, goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani  put coach Santos side into the final of the Euro for the first time since 2004,were they lost to Greece by a goal lone goal.

Ronaldo equalled Michel Platini's all-time European Championship scoring record. He had already beaten Luis Figo's Portugal caps record. He also became the first man to score in four Euro finals tournaments. The first one was way back in 2004, when team-mate Renato Sanches had not yet turned seven.

 Cristiano celebrates

Wales's journey to the semi-final stage has been no fairy tale. They are a good team, expertly drilled, and no magic dust carried them here. Their progress was logical. To be in with a chance of meeting France or Germany in the final, though, they needed Ronaldo to remain tame. And to be fair, to this point, he had not had a great individual tournament.

He is a different player these days; the step-overs are slower, he needs more help from his team-mates to put him in scoring positions. Tonight, though, was a reminder of what he can do when he gets the service. The leap, the power, the goal. All capped off with that familiar celebration.
Ronaldo is finally blossoming at Euro 2016 and there would be few backing against him leading his country to a first-ever senior title.

The Real Winner of the Democratic Debate: President Obama   More Sanders Snarks as Democratic Debate Gets Heated Democratic Candidates Court Black Voters at Debate Clinton and Sanders Walk a Careful Line on Women at Debate There were only two Democrats on the debate stage in Milwaukee on Thursday night, but they should have brought a third podium for President Obama. Sanders, for his part, did his best to hold his ground, justifying his criticism of the President and presenting himself as a change agent while pointing out Clinton’s own differences with Obama. Their heated exchanges over Obama’s legacy reflected how the President has b...

Oscar Pistorius Will Be Sentenced for Murder After Dismissal of his Appeal

A lawyer for Oscar Pistorius says South Africa’s highest court has dismissed the former track star’s appeal of his murder conviction. The ruling by the Constitutional Court on Thursday clears the way for a judge to sentence Pistorius for murder at a hearing scheduled for April 18. Defense lawyer Andrew Fawcett confirmed the Constitutional Court’s decision and said: “We’ll proceed to the sentencing.” Pistorius, who killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his home in 2013, had appealed to the Constitutional Court, saying another court erred when it overturned a manslaughter conviction and declared the Olympic athlete guilty of murder. The minimum sentence for murder in South Africa is 15 years, though a judge can reduce that sentence for what the law describes as exceptional circumstances. Pistorius is currently under house arrest. [ Time ]
