Aston Villa vs Man Utd: Solskjaer set to break EPL record

Manchester United will set a new Premier League record if they win by more than three goals at Aston Villa on Thursday night. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side is in the middle of a 16-game unbeaten run in all competitions. United are in form having won 10 points from a possible 12 since the Premier League's resumption. Since drawing with Tottenham in June, the Red Devils have seen off Sheffield United, Brighton and Bournemouth. And should they win by three or more goals at Villa Park today, they will set a Premier League record for consecutive wins by at least three goals. Sheffield United and Brighton were cast aside 3-0 before they beat Bournemouth 5-2. United are on a 20-match unbeaten streak at Villa Park.

Manchester United take out £140million loan in summer transfer hint

United, therefore, have drawn £140m of their £150m syndicated revolving credit facility (RCF) in a hint they could be preparing to spend big in the transfer market. The MEN understands United intend to press ahead with their plans to sign three players this summer. The club said it precautionarily drew funds from the RCF to increase its cash position, preserve financial flexibility and maintain liquidity during the crisis. Despite the virus and the suspension of the Premier League, United are targeting a number of additions before the start of the 2020/21 season with their prime target being Borussia Dortmund winger  Jadon Sancho . A fee for the 20-year-old could exceed the club record £89.3m paid for Paul Pogba in August 2016, with Dortmund having a hefty asking price on the England international. United are also interested in signing Aston Villa captain  Jack Grealish and Birmingham City teenager  Jude Bellingham.

Lewandowski breaks 51-year record with 16th goal of season as Muller claims his 100th assist

The Bayern Munich legends each made historic contributions as their team swept to victory over Borussia Dortmund and leapfrogged their rivals Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski each set records as Bayern Munich trounced Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in Der Klassiker. Lewandowski opened the scoring and then bagged Bayern’s third, taking his tally to 16 in the first 11 games of the season. In doing so he surpassed the record of Gerd Muller, who netted 15 times in his first 11 matches, 51 years ago. Sandwiched between Lewandowski’s goals was a Serge Gnabry strike, set up by Thomas Muller which was its own piece of history. The modern Muller is the first player to record 100 assists in the Bundesliga since Opta started recording such data. It was the World Cup winner’s fifth assist of the season, one in which he has only started half of Bayern’s Bundesliga games.
