Captain America’s Hayley Atwell Slams Civil War Love Story


Hayley Atwell —who played Peggy Carter in the first two Captain America films — has strong feelings about Steve Rogers’s modern day love interest in Captain America: Civil War. At Dallas Comic Con Fan Expo, the 34-year-old actress explained she was not a fan of the kiss Cap shared with Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter — Peggy’s great niece — in the latest installment of the series, reports Vulture.


 “Well, first of all [Peggy]’d be turning over in her grave,” she said. “She’d be like ‘no.’ And she’d inject herself with the blue serum and become a super villain. She’d break out of her coffin and ground [Sharon]. She’d ground her. Then she’d kick Steve’s ass as well. I just feel that, you know — I wouldn’t want to date my great aunt’s guy. It just feels like it crosses an incestuous boundary. And Peggy just died. That’s even more disrespectful, right? It’s like, ‘don’t touch that. You can’t tap that!'”

Atwell went on to say that Marvel’s recent reveal that comic book Captain America is — and has always been — an undercover agent for former Nazi organization Hydra also influenced her opinion. “She’d want the best for her and she’d want her dating a good guy. And now with this whole ‘Hail Hydra’ business, I don’t know if Steve’s good enough for her,” she said. “So on all levels, it’s just a big fat no.”

Officials are looking for actress Naya Rivera after she rented a boat with her 4-year-old son in Lake Piru. (Taylor Jewell / Associated Press) Officials are searching for actress Naya Rivera after her 4-year-old son was found alone on a boat she rented Wednesday afternoon, officials said. Rivera rented the boat about 1 p.m. and had an afternoon of swimming with her son, who was the last to see her before she went missing, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Eric Buschow. Buschow said the boy got back onto the boat after a swim but his mother did not follow. “We’re going on the belief that she did go in the water and we have not been able to locate her. So this may well be a case of drowning,” Buschow told reporters.
